Leadership Team

This spring, Governor Sonny Perdue announced a new statewide transportation partnership called Investing in Tomorrow’s Transportation Today, or IT3.

This ambitious partnership – with Georgia Department of Transportation, Georgia Regional Transportation Authority, state legislators and local partners, represents a major step in bringing together the leadership of Georgia’s transportation agencies, elected officials and other stakeholders who are committed to developing a 21st century transportation network that moves our state forward at such a critical time in its history. There is no better moment for this to occur.

As Georgia and the rest of the country face an uncertain future with dwindling federal and state funding devoted to building and maintaining our transportation infrastructure, the governor and our many partners stand ready to transform the way we look at transportation in our state. We recognize clearly that Georgia’s economic health and our citizen’s quality of life, depend enormously on our success to create a transportation system that works for all us. And we are committed to doing just that.

Over the next several months, we will travel the state making the case for investment in transportation. We will come to you with a definition of our strategic goals, policies and benchmarks. And we will share with you the best examples we can find of how transportation is working successfully in other parts of the country. Finally, we will look at every possible tool that we can place in our solutions toolbox –from transit to commuter rail and HOV to HOT lanes; and we will consider every possible funding option.

As we move forward, we do so, excited about the opportunity to engage our stakeholders and collaborate with our partners. While we face challenging times ahead, we understand that Georgia is uniquely positioned to meet those challenges head on. Our shared vision, and perhaps most importantly our commitment to developing strategies that lead to successful outcomes, will drive us. We have accepted the charge from Governor Perdue. Now, the work must begin, because we understand clearly that you are expecting results; and we can offer nothing less.
